Spectacular 30-Day Baja RV Caravan Tour!

We keep our caravans intentionally small—just 7–8 RVs (about 15 people). It’s the smallest group size in Baja caravan travel, which means a more personal experience and plenty of time to get to know your fellow travelers. No windshield stickers or name tags—just shared adventures and good company.

Yes! There’s no strict size limit, and we regularly have larger 5th wheels and Class A motorhomes on our tours. To keep things comfortable at some campgrounds, we limit rigs over 33 feet to about three per caravan. Baja roads can be narrow with little shoulder, so bigger rigs just require a bit more attention—but we’ll guide you along the way.

A towed vehicle is nice to have, but it’s not required. We sometimes carpool for outings, and having a toad can give you more freedom to explore on your own. If you bring one, be sure to carry the registration and include it on your Mexican auto insurance policy.

Most of our tours include about 3 days of dry camping, with a few tours extending to 4 days. We typically bookend those nights with full-hookup campgrounds for comfort. Solar, lithium batteries, or a generator can be helpful, but they’re not required—just make sure you’re comfortable dry camping for a few days. And the good news? Most of it happens on beautiful Baja beaches.

Generally speaking, Baja is a safe place to travel. Many people explore the peninsula on their own, but traveling with a small group like our caravans can add an extra layer of confidence and support. Both the U.S. and Canadian governments advise travelers to use normal caution in Mexico—which is exactly what we help you do while enjoying everything Baja has to offer.

Yes! Dogs are welcome on our tours, and Mexico is very pet-friendly. Just be sure your dog is well cared for during excursions that may last 4–5 hours. You’ll also need current vet records showing a rabies vaccine valid for at least 180 days from the tour departure date and must complete the free CDC Dog Import Form before returning to the U.S.

Our tours are adult-only experiences and aren’t designed for families with children. Most of our guests are between 55–75 years old, and the pace and activities reflect that. If you’re hoping to travel with other families, you may be able to connect with like-minded campers in our Facebook group.

You should be able to walk about a quarter mile comfortably, up to a mile or so, even if using assistance. All excursions are optional, so you can participate at the level that feels right for you. Activities like hikes, town walking tours, snorkeling with whale sharks, or swimming with sea lions do require a bit more mobility.

Your fees cover all camping costs, plus several meals and excursions we consider essential to the Baja experience. They also include private transportation for select outings, special hosted events, and the guidance of your wagonmaster, who handles the logistics along the way.

You’ll be responsible for your Mexican travel visa (FMM), Mexican auto insurance, optional travel insurance, fuel, groceries, drinking water, souvenirs, and any optional activities.

Breakdowns are rare, but they can happen anywhere. Your wagonmaster will help diagnose the issue and coordinate repair options, and often someone in the group has helpful mechanical experience, too. If it’s a minor fix, we’ll try to handle it right away.

If a larger repair is needed, we’ll help arrange service at the next convenient stop. In most cases, you’ll rejoin the group quickly and continue the adventure.

Pulled Over:
Let your wagonmaster know right away by phone or radio so the group can safely pull over nearby. Then open the MexLegal app and tap “Request Assistance.” This connects you with an English-speaking Mexican attorney who can help communicate with authorities and resolve the situation quickly.

Accident:
After notifying your wagonmaster, call 911. Your wagonmaster will assist with the situation and help ensure everyone’s safety while coordinating the next steps. (For the record—we’ve never had a major accident on our tours.)

Yes—both vehicles need coverage. Mexico requires at least Mexican liability insurance for any vehicle driven in the country. We recommend a comprehensive policy through Baja Bound to properly cover your RV and any towed vehicle.Some U.S. insurers offer limited coverage in Baja, but you’ll still need the required Mexican liability insurance, so be sure to understand exactly what your policy covers before you go.

Life happens, and travel insurance can provide valuable peace of mind. We work with TME Travel Insurance, which offers coverage options such as trip interruption, emergency medical care, and medical evacuation.Plans can be tailored to your comfort level with risk, and coverage is also available for Canadian guests.

Credit cards are accepted at many places in Baja—like gas stations, grocery stores, and restaurants—but cash (pesos) is still king in many areas. We recommend starting your trip with $500–$1,000 USD worth of Mexican pesos.You can order pesos through your bank, exchange USD near the border, or withdraw more along the way at ATMs throughout Baja if needed.

Absolutely! If you catch the “Baja bug”, you’re welcome to leave the tour and continue exploring on your own. We simply ask that you sign a release acknowledging that you’re no longer traveling under the leadership of the wagonmaster.

Once you drop off, you won’t be able to rejoin the group later, and we won’t coordinate your return to the border—but most guests who do this feel fully confident continuing their Baja adventure independently.

As sOur $495 deposit is non-refundable, but it can be transferred to a tour the following season. Refunds for the remaining balance are based on how far in advance you cancel:

• 90+ days before the tour: Full refund of the balance (minus fees and deposit)
• 60–89 days: 66% of the balance refunded (minus fees and deposit)
• 30–59 days: 33% of the balance refunded (minus fees and deposit)
• Under 30 days: No refund

For cancellations within 90 days, we require medical or mechanical documentation. We also recommend travel insurance to help protect against unexpected changes.

Nope! Our tours stay mostly on paved roads and well-traveled routes. Occasionally, we’ll drive short stretches of hard-packed dirt roads, but nothing requiring off-road equipment.

If road conditions ever become questionable, your wagonmaster will adjust the plan. As we like to say, the only way you’ll get stuck on our tours is if you go looking for trouble.

Yes! We already price our tours to be some of the most affordable Baja caravans available, but we still offer a few ways to save:

• Early Bird Discount: Save several hundred dollars when you book between December 1 and March 31
• Single Traveler Discount: A few hundred dollars off for guests traveling solo
• Returning Guest Discount: $250 off any tour for repeat travelers
• Group Discount: Fill an entire tour and receive $500 off your booking, and $250 off for each of your friends

You need the following documentation for travel in Mexico:

• Passport
• FMM (tourist visa, we help you with that!)
• Vehicle/RV registration
• Mexican Auto Insurance

We also recommend taking photos or copies of each document and emailing them to yourself or an emergency contact, and keeping backup copies stored separately in your RV, just in case.

Your wagonmaster will reach out about 4 weeks before your tour begins by phone or email. At that time, they’ll connect you with the rest of the group on WhatsApp so everyone can receive updates and start getting to know each other.It’s also a great opportunity to ask questions and make sure you’re fully prepared for the adventure ahead.

Yes. Gratuities for all included meals and excursions are covered in your tour fees.That said, a little extra generosity is always appreciated. Wages in Mexico are low, and small tips—like 20 pesos for a gas station attendant or a little extra for a server—can go a long way and are always welcomed when service exceeds expectations.

No—neither is required. However, our tours do include up to 3 days of dry camping, so having solar panels or a generator can be helpful depending on your power use and battery capacity.

There’s no need to invest thousands in a solar system just for this trip. But a small generator or basic solar setup can be a convenient way to keep your batteries topped off while camping off-grid.

Absolutely! While many of our guests travel as couples, single travelers are always welcome. We even offer a several-hundred-dollar single guest discount on select tours.

Yes! You’re welcome to rent an RV and join the caravan. We partner with El Monte RV, which offers a variety of RV sizes and types so you can choose what feels most comfortable. They also provide a Baja Amigos discount when you book your rental through them.
