Day 10 & 11 – La Paz (El Centenario)
Remember the fish that were caught in Loreto? Well, one of our amigos made arrangements at the Blue Marlin restaurant to have the fish cooked four different ways. We were greeted with the most beautiful margaritas sitting under a canopy near the beach. The appies arrived with the yellow fin tuna cooked a couple of different ways that was served with traditional appetizers! We then moved into the restaurant area for more fish and fixin’s buffet style. It was enjoyed immensely by everyone.
The amigos also loved swimming with the whale sharks and the sea lions, on one of the only none windy days! The Malecon in La Paz is amazing. It has gorgeous views and is lined with many shops and restaruants. We found the best shrimp tacos and margaritas!
Playa Tecolote – Day 12 & 13
It was a short drive from La Paz to the most amazing beach for two days of dry camping. The quad, kayaks, bikes and games of bocce were enjoyed by all. On the second day, a hike up the mountain side was a highlight along with a fantastic pot luck dinner, followed by an evening fire. Our four legged friends just loved the beach……miles of sand to play in and they ran for hours. We hated to leave this tranquil spot, as it was enjoyed from sunrise to sunset.
Rancho Verde – Day 14
It was hard to leave Playa Tecolote, however the drive to Rancho Verde was easy and we stopped at El Triunfo for lunch. Wow! This very small mining town is nestled in the Sierra de la Laguna and it reminded me of an European town. It is very quaint and we had the most amazing brunch! The bakery that is a part of the restaurant is amazing! A favourite purchases included the cranberry and walnut bread and pastries. Once we arrived at Rancho Verde the opportunity to bird watch was very relaxing for some, while others went out for hikes or bike rides.
Los Barriles – Day 15-17
Yay! Laundry day! Once the laundry and shopping was complete we toured the town. Unfortunately it was very windy and we couldn’t enjoy the beach. However the kite boarders sure loved it. Four amigos arranged a fishing trip on day 17 and they caught a Marlin and a couple of Dorados. I took a group of Amigos to Santiago where we followed a dirt road out to the Canon De Zorro (Canyon of the Fox) where we did a little hike to the most beautiful swimming hole & waterfall.
Day 18 – Pescadero
Today we left Los Barilles (sniff, sniff) and headed southwest towards Pescadero. The drive took us through San Jose Del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas along the coast line. Many large resorts and golf courses lined the highway with gorgeous beaches. I purchased an amazing blanket for our home and many amigos bought table cloths at the blanket factory. If you never had a Mexican hamburger in you life you will want one of the ones we had tonight at a local road side cafe. All I can say is, don’t wear your good shirt and if you do, wear a bib!
On out way back to La Paz we stopped at Todos Santos for a three hour visit. Shopping, margarita tasting, bakery snacks and lunch was enjoyed by many. Todos Santos is a very pretty and artsy town that you could just wander in all day long.
