August 22, 2012 – Spanish claims to the west coast of North America date to the papal bull of 1493, and the Treaty of Tordesillas.  In 1513, this claim was reinforced by Spanish explorer Vasco Núñez de Balboa, the first European to sight the Pacific Ocean, when he claimed all lands adjoining this ocean for the Spanish Crown.

July 14, 2012 MEXICO CITY— Archaeologists in Mexico City have unearthed the skulls and other bones of 15 people, most of them the children of traveling merchants during Aztec times.

July 1, 2012 – Every year on July 1st, Canadians celebrate Canada Day.  On that date in 1867, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and the Province of Canada were united into a single country, called simply Canada.  This union was a result of the Constitution Act which granted Canada a great deal of independence from England.
