297 km/180 m – We get a good start today as we retrace our path to Hwy 200 and continue our journey north. Our scenic drive takes us past the communities of Emiliano Zapata, Costa Careyes, Chamela, Perula, Jose Maria Morelos, Campo Acosta, Tequesquite, El Tuito and Mismaloya. The Caravan will take a bypass around Puerto Vallarta (right on Libramente Tepic), thru a tunnel then on to the laterals asap until we can rejoin the main road again. Soon we are at the Ameca River which is the border between the state of Nayarit and Jalisco. Onwards thru Mezcales, Bucerias, Sayulita, Lo de Marcos, Ricon de Guayabitos, all of which have large RV communities. Just past the “Conalape” sign at KM 91.5 is the entrance to our destination La Penita Trailer Park (GPS 21.04607 N, 105.24207 W). This is a full service RV Park, they have a great laundry service. Baja Amigos owners, Dan & Lisa Goy, have spend the winter here in the past. First we will fill up with fuel then return to the campground. We have a visit to town and Chacala Beach scheduled during our stop here and lots of free time.
