February 12, 2011 – After a couple of enjoyable days on the Bay of Conception and meeting up with folks who came down with us in November,we have arrived in Loreto, the birthplace of California. The Nuestra Senora de Loreto, Our Lady of Loreto, was the first Spanish mission developed in the 17th century by the Jesuits (October 25, 1697) which was the beginning to the development of the entire California mission system and the settlement of California south to north. Tomorrow we head up to Mision San Francisco Javier de Vigge-Biaundo, the 2nd oldest mission 36 km south west from Loreto located at the top of the la Giganta Mountain Range, folks are excited about what they will see!
