February 9, 2011 – This morning everyone has headed out to see the Grey Whales in action in Scammon’s Lagoon at Guerrero Negro. We had a great dinner, as always, at the Malarrimo restaurant the night before and folks were really keen to get going for the experience with the mother whales and calves. The day is really calm and we expect flat seas lots of whales we are in the middle of the season for whale watching. Everyone really enjoyed Catavina, particularly meeting Ralph from New Mexico who resides nearby during the winter, a very interesting and helpful guy for sure. The drive south has certainly been quite, hardly any traffic since leaving Fidel’s, we only had 2 vehicles pass us from Catavina to the junction at Bahia de los Angeles yesterday morning. On Day 1 the group were quite surprised to see all the merchants at La Bufadora and had a lot of fun interacting with the merchants, lots of action as 2 Cruise Ships were moored in the Ensenada harbour. Fortunately the tide was low and we all got to experience the very hot sands on the beach on Punta Banada, just a few minutes from our campground Villarino.
