October 1, 2012 – The Snowbird RV Show and Sale is Greater Vancouver’s largest fall recreation vehicle show. For those that enjoy the RV lifestyle, or think you might like to try it, this is a great show. Lisa and I have been exhibitors at this show since we established Baja Amigos RV Caravan Tours in 2009. There is over 180,000 square feet of display space, both indoors and outdoors with all kinds of new recreation vehicles on show and for sale, our friend Peter Cashmore (Vagabundos del Mar Restaurant) had his truck for sale at the show (looks sold). In addition there are over 50 booth exhibitors including parts and service exhibitors, resorts, accessories, truck customizing, diesel engines, hitches and more.
The show includes ‘This Old RV Seminar Stage’ with daily seminars, including “how to” demonstrations on Travelling to Arizona; Winterizing; Solar, Inverters & Satellite Systems; and many other topics. This year we hosted the RV on Baja Seminars, and our friends Paul Beddows and Gabriel Romero hosted the RVing on mainland Mexico seminars.
We had a great turnout to the show, looks like almost 15,000 by the end on Sunday, we sold four (4) spaces for our tours with a couple more still deciding, we had lots of interest, if not this season certainly for the future. We only have a couple of spaces left to fill for the upcoming season and are taking registrations for the 2013/2014 season.
The Baja information seminars were very well attended, often the seats were full with many people standing. Lots of very good questions, it was really encouraging to see so many RVers considering Baja as a realistic option for at least part of their Snowbird destination this upcoming winter.
MTD Promotions is a wholly owned subsidiary of Fraserway RV LP, and produced its first show, the Early Bird RV Show & Sale at the Tradex Centre in Abbotsford, in January of 1996. Attendance in 1996 topped 10,000 people. In 1997 the show was expanded to include other major recreation vehicle dealers and was also increased to four days from the previous year’s three days. Attendance in 1997 was over 17,500 people, a phenomenal 75% increase over the first year! The success of the Early Bird RV Show & Sale led to the production of the first annual Snowbird RV Sale, held at Tradex September 25 – 28, 1997. This first year show had an attendance of over 12,000 people – the largest fall R.V. Show or Sale ever held. From that point on, both shows have grown substantially, until now they are the two largest RV shows in Western Canada.
